Boston Medical Spanish Center
an initiative of the AES World Languages and Cultures Institute 501(c)3
Medical Spanish classes and programming for all of Boston's healthcare professionals
Am I eligible?
All current and future healthcare professionals are eligible to participate in the program, regardless of current affiliation. The only common restriction is language proficiency.

How do I know if my Spanish proficiency is adequate for my workshop?
A placement interview conducted over the phone will determine this.

Can I get Continuing Education credit for this program?
This program is likely eligible for Continuing Education (CE) credits through your employer or self-reporting, as our course aims and objectives align with CE requirements for a range of professions that include educational activities that serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships a healthcare professional uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession. Please contact us or your employer for more information.

What clinics do you offer?
Currently, we offer two clinics, focusing on taking patient vitals and taking a medical history.

What is the refund policy?
All enrollment fees are refundable up to 4 weeks before the start of a clinic. Email us at medicalspanish@awlci.org for more information or to request a refund.

Do we have to do any work outside of class?
Yes. Guided independent work will be assigned two weeks prior to the start of the clinic. We have designed the guided independent work to take a total of approximately 3 hours, but this may differ from student to student. The more time and effort you put into the clinic, the more benefit you will derive from it.

Do I need to purchase any books or materials?
All materials will be provided by the instructors.
How big are the classes?
Students will spend most of their time working in small breakout rooms with approximately 3 other students.

What happens if I don't place into a class, or my class gets cancelled for some reason?
You can transfer your payment to the next relevant clinic or you can get a full refund.

Where can I find more information about the workshop policies?
Please visit the Program Policies page for detailed information regarding transfers, waitlists, refunds, and more.
